Sightings of fangirl!Kate coincide mostly with book events of all shapes & sizes and fandom-related meetups in and around Washington, D.C. You might spot her running around a Civil War battlefield with a stuffed Eeyore in one hand and a camera in the other. You might see her dressed up as Generic Hogwarts Hufflepuff Student #4 because once again she has not come up with a creative Halloween party costume and those robes were expensive, darn it! Or you might find her between the stacks at one of her libraries, hunting down books that have gone missing in the system.
During the month of November, she can usually be found at write-ins, trying to work toward her word count on novels that will probably never be published and fanfiction that will be posted though no money will have been made. In fact, she happily parts with hundreds of dollars a month due to fandoms. Because who can resist that new daily t-shirt site shirt? During the day, she supports her fandom obsessions by working as a webmaster for a nonprofit for writers. During her first week at work, there was some discussion among coworkers about what the “I’d rather be writing slash” bumper sticker on the back of her car meant, but now she is out and proud as a fangirl. Her small but growing bookshelf collection of Star Trek engineer action figures on display at work can attest to that.
She started this blog in the hopes of sharing not only her love of fandoms and the geekiness surrounding it but the creations and failures that come with it.
Kate,
I am the driver of LTSABER. I got your note on my car and wanted to reach out. I’m always looking for fan girls to hang out and get geeky with. Drop me an email if you get a chance. I wish I would have run into you in person, I could have showed off the SHIELD/Hydra reversible hoodie I picked up at New York Comic Con this year. It’s my cosplay when I can’t cosplay! Hope to hear from you soon!
