12 Days of Fandom Ornaments: #3

My Christmas tree is a mix of ornaments from my childhood and ones from later on in my life. Many of them are related to my favorite fandoms, naturally. I thought I would showcase one every other day in December in a 12 Days of Fandom Ornaments series.

Day 3:

Ornament15

Putting these two ornaments together like this is as close as I come to having something directly related to Highlander: the series on my tree. The Eiffel Tower represents Paris and, of course, the big season 3 finale. And speaking of big, the blue word is a nod to the blue lightning of the quickening. And the word itself is Peace, a nod to Adrian Paul’s charity. So, all put together, this makes me think of my favorite fandom. But I will admit it’s a bit of a stretch.

Day 2: A House Full of Black Santas

Ornament14

I bought this little guy shortly after reading Paper Towns by John Green. I figured that my tree could not possibly be complete without a black Santa. Maybe it’s even similar to one of the 12,000 black Santas mentioned in the book?

Day 1: Erised?

Ornament24-02

This Harry Potter ornament features pre-movie art. Harry seems to be looking into the mirror to see his greatest desire. When you put a light bulb into the ornament, the desire is magically revealed… all the gold in his Gringotts vault. Huh. I’d have guessed James and Lily Potter. But, no, gold. Harry loves gold more, apparently. Strange, but I still love the ornament.

I’m back!

I haven’t been able to log into my fangirl blog here for weeks now, and I’ve been re-evaluating my posting schedule here as well. But I finally managed to get back in just now. *throws confetti* So I’ll be playing catch-up. And the good news is, I’m starting with my 12 days of ornaments series again this year… and the first post will be tomorrow, leading up until Christmas.

License Plate: LIL K9

One more found during the 50th Anniversary event last year.

LIL K9

Awww, K-9.

Christmas with Eeyore

Here’s one closer to home and themed for the season! This is a Civil War Trail table marker describing the Confederate’s “Christmas Raid” behind Union lines to steal supplies and destroy train tracks before heading off.

The End of Another Era

Up and down and up again, we finally have the final title credits song for the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit franchise, sung by none other than Billy Boyd. What a fitting end to a great set of movies.

If you don’t mind being spoiled musically, you can listen to the song right now on Billboard:

This song reduced me to tears the first time I heard it (when it was up briefly a few days ago on YouTube), and it does the same to me each time I re-listen to it. I suspect that I will be a puddle by the end of the final Hobbit film.

The soundtrack is available for preorder online (iTunes, Amazon, etc.) and will be released December 9 (standard) and December 16 (2-CD special edition).

License Plate: HGWRT5

I got my letter, wand, robes, school books, and cauldron. I’m all set.

Another license plate belonging to someone in my Harry Potter meeetup group.

Eeyore and a Witch

While on a solo snarfari in Boston (my third such adventure there) Eeyore and I found this plaque about Goodwife Ann Glover, the first Catholic Martyr in Massachusetts who was an Irish widow hanged as a witch because she refused to renounce her Catholic faith.
