Top Ten: Marvel Knowledge Holes

marvellogothingDespite the fact that Batman is my favorite superhero, I’m definitely a Marvel girl. Marvel characters are my kind of people. Marvel stories are ones I can relate to. Marvel’s world is my world.

However, I get my Marvel where I can– various movies, comics and graphic novels I come across at used book sales or on deep discount at comic book stores, various cartoon TV show versions, various graphic novels I find at the library. Because of this, I don’t have a very good mental picture of the various Marvel universes or their timelines. Everything is all mixed up in my brain.

I know just enough to know that I don’t know very much. I have big gaps in my knowledge that sometimes cause me “oohhhh!” light bulb moments of realization when those gaps get filled in… and sometimes cause me massive amounts of confusion and guilt. I figured this might be a great source of laughter for those of you with more knowledge than me (which is practically everyone) and a way for me to come clean. Feel free to try to explain things to me. But, more helpful, would be a list of comics/episodes that would let me properly fill in the gaps. I’ve tried Wikis and they leave me with more questions than answers.

Quiz: How Big Of A Harry Potter Fan Are You Actually?

Repost. Sorry. My scheduling abilities are miserable, apparently.

Quiz: How Big Of A Harry Potter Fan Are You Actually?

Answer: 76/100
HPFanQuiz

Thoughts: I’m not entirely sure why I bothered filling this out, because I know I’m a big fan and it only makes me sad that I can’t check every box on this list. I WAS especially thrilled to be able to check off EVERYTHING from 67-71. I love that I’ve been able to visit all those places. It was a little sad that I got into HP as an adult so I couldn’t check off a short series about growing up with the books. But I made up for that in other places.

Craft: Pixar ATCs

I made these ATCs for the Pixar in a Bag fandom swap in February. I used USPS stamps, obviously, and drew the backgrounds. Caution: I’m not too good at drawing! LOL

Top Ten: Favorite Stephen King Adaptations

I’ve been on a bit of a Stephen King kick lately, between Haven and earreading a handful of his books. So I thought this was appropriate. Let me start this out with a disclaimer: I don’t like/watch horror movies.

Quiz: ST:TNG Recurring Character

This turned out to be a fun one! It actually asked me some good questions I wasn’t expecting.

Quiz: Which Recurring “Star Trek: The Next Generation” Character Are You?

Answer: STTNGRecurringCharacter

Thoughts: I was afraid of this. I knew I shouldn’t have chosen ER or my favorite color as blue. I am SO not a fan of Dr. Pulaski. I wish Moriarty had kept her forever on the holodeck just so that Data & Geordi could give her a big fat “I told you so!” I don’t even want to entertain the comparison. Also, I SUCK at poker, so NO.

License Plate: NOBLNK

The Doctor Who anniversary episode event at my local movie theater was a great occasion to find Doctor Who plates.

NOBLNK

Don’t blink. Don’t even blink. Blink and you’re dead.

Top Ten: Forgotten Fandoms

Here’s a list of ten fandoms I left out of the fun during my month-long tributes. Sorry!

Recent Marathons (More 50-Word Reviews)

Some recently finished shows to review…

VeronicaMars
Veronica Mars: Definitely worth waiting all this time for. I loved Veronica and enjoyed watching her struggles and adventures. She’s clever and strong and smart in ways others can only dream of being. But things are rarely easy for her; great tension and cast dynamics. Looking forward to the movie!

haven
Haven (S1-S3): Though I’m a Stephen King fan, I think I got about a third of the references—I considered each I got to be a victory, though. Interesting concept and twists, but started going downhill for me in S3. Will have to wait to see where it goes post-barn!

TheFollowing
The Following: Watched because I like Poe’s stories. Concept was dark and terrible (killings/cult based on his stories) but kind of interesting because of that. Kevin Bacon was great. Started losing me about halfway through when it got to be predictable, but I finished the season because I was invested.

DrQuinn
Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman (S1) It’s been so long, it was a joy to fall back in love with the show and reacquaint myself with the characters. Go Dr. Mike! There was so much I’d forgotten and many good moments. I still apparently have crushes on Sully, Matthew, and Horace.

Quiz: Buffy Character

Another fun one with some interesting choices (some pretty easy to identify, thanks to captions)

Quiz: Which “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” Character Are You?

GilesAnswer: Rupert Giles
You’re the rock of your close group of friends. You perform well under pressure, stay cool in the face danger, and never turn away a friend in need. You have a wild streak, but overall you like the quieter life. You prefer one-on-one situations to large parties, but above all, you prefer the company of books. You’re highly intelligent but not pretentious, and a truly empathetic person. Your sense of humor is the driest of dry, and your house is extremely tidy.

Thoughts: My house is not extremely tidy. But I do love my books and some peace & quiet. I don’t know about the staying cool in the face of danger; I feel I would tend to over-react to things as big as the apocalypse. But I like the rest of it all right. I’ll take it 🙂
