For the month of April, I’m breaking out of my usual “format” and showcasing one of my favorite fandoms a day, so I will have shiny things to make me smile every day of my birthday month. When I sat down to write the list of my top 30 fandoms, I found the task terribly hard. How do I choose just 30? My apologies to all my beloved fandoms left off the list. Iām using random.org to determine what fandom gets what day.
Favorite Quote: Steve Rogers: “Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?”
Tony Stark: “Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.”
Favorite Moment: The big battle (I’ve seen a lot of fight scenes in my day, but when they all fight together, in sync like that, it’s a thing of beauty I hadn’t expected)
How I Got Into It: I’ve always been a Marvel girl. Okay, no, Batman’s still my #1, but he’s the exception. The big Marvel movies definitely drew my attention. But all the characters together + Joss Whedon’s influence = instant fangirling.
Fangirl Intensity (scale of 1 to 10 with 10=full-out obsessed): 8.5
How I Fangirl: I’ve written & read fanfic and done crafts. I’ve ventured into comics and animated series for more material. I follow the avengerskink LJ community and have even tried my hand at a prompt there. I’m finally getting around to working on a novel-length Avengers fic.
Weirdest Merch I Own: Hawkeye necklace featuring an image of Clint from a comic I am embarrassed to say I haven’t read yet.
Favorite Fandom Creation: Cover Story by lilsmartass (because this fanfic helped me take my mind off colonoscopy prep. Also because it is brilliant)
Why I’m Glad I Fangirl It: So many great characters and an endless wealth of source material from various Marvel ‘verses to dive into. Sometimes I feel terrible for not knowing it all and just jumping on the bandwagon after the movie. But then I remind myself that there’s almost no way to have read every single comic–at least not when I’m a poor webmaster at a non-profit š
