Fandom Spotlight Day 29: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

For the month of April, I’m breaking out of my usual “format” and showcasing one of my favorite fandoms a day, so I will have shiny things to make me smile every day of my birthday month. When I sat down to write the list of my top 30 fandoms, I found the task terribly hard. How do I choose just 30? My apologies to all my beloved fandoms left off the list. Iā€™m using random.org to determine what fandom gets what day.

Favorite Quote: “What a crazy random happenstance!” -Billy

Favorite Song: “A Man’s Gotta Do”

How I Got Into It: I’d heard news of it during the writer’s strike because of the Joss Whedon sites/podcasts I was following at the time. I watched it the minute it was available online and then rewatched the first Act several times a day while waiting for Act II.

Fangirl Intensity (scale of 1 to 10 with 10=full-out obsessed): 9

How I Fangirl: I watch it a lot and own the soundtrack and DVD. I’ve read the comics and graphic novels. but my favorite thing to do is sing along with it with a bunch of fans during Can’t Stop the Serenity each year. It doesn’t get better than that šŸ™‚

Weirdest Thing About Merch: I failed to buy a “We do the weird stuff!” button at CSTS years ago and regret that to this day.

Favorite Fandom Creation: Until recently, it would have been getting to watch in person as two Wizard Rockers performing “My Eyes” in concert. But now I think I have to go with the Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer My Little Pony Mods

Why I’m Glad I Fangirl It: It’s tight writing. Every little detail and action are perfect. I love laughing and crying and screaming over and over again. There’s beautiful irony. There’s fun songs. There’s stupendous acting. I love every bit of it.

Now I want to rewatch Dr. Horrible!

I just came across this blog randomly and I absolutely love it. I apologize if I spam you with comments on old posts over the next couple days – I’m back-tracking through your pages. You love so many things that I love and so many things that I keep meaning to love but haven’t found the time to watch yet. šŸ™‚

Awesome! I always welcome comments on new and old posts; no worries, and I’m excited to read your thoughts.

And now I think I might have to put the Dr. Horrible soundtrack on at work here. Thanks for the nudge šŸ™‚
