For the month of April, I’m breaking out of my usual “format” and showcasing one of my favorite fandoms a day, so I will have shiny things to make me smile every day of my birthday month. When I sat down to write the list of my top 30 fandoms, I found the task terribly hard. How do I choose just 30? My apologies to all my beloved fandoms left off the list. Iām using random.org to determine what fandom gets what day.
Favorite Quote: “We solve crimes. I blog about it, he forgets his pants. I wouldn’t hold out to much hope.” -John Watson
Favorite Episode: “A Study in Pink” followed by “The Hounds of Baskerville”
How I Got Into It: I’d heard rumors that it was going to be good. A modern Sherlock? I liked Sherlock stories when I was younger, and this seemed like a neat twists. So I watched it on PBS and was hooked the moment Sherlock’s corrections came through on the cell phone during the police press conference just a few minutes in. I of course had to immediately download series 2 because waiting a year was not going to happen (I bought the DVDs as soon as I could, so I feel no guilt)
Fangirl Intensity (scale of 1 to 10 with 10=full-out obsessed): 8
How I Fangirl: I went to 221B Baker Street on my birthday a few years ago! š I watched Hounds three times on the plane from the US to the UK and back *G* I read & write lots of fanfic. I’ve crafted all sorts of things including a whole set of felted ornaments for series 1 & 2 I’m pretty proud of. I’ve got a SHRock playlist.
Weirdest Merch I Own: stuffed hedgehog and stuffed otter
Favorite Fandom Creation: there is so much amazing art and fic out there! But I guess I’m partial to the 221B band of consulting musicians
Why I’m Glad I Fangirl It: It’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. It doesn’t get more brilliant than that, it just doesn’t. Or, well, maybe it does, because the whole cast is freakin amazing. I only wish there were more of it. The wait between Series 2 and 3 just about killed me! I think they do a marvelous job at cleverly adapting the stories and spinning them into their own creations in modern day. I adore all the twists and turns and never see anything coming; I love that.
