For the month of April, I’m breaking out of my usual “format” and showcasing one of my favorite fandoms a day, so I will have shiny things to make me smile every day of my birthday month. When I sat down to write the list of my top 30 fandoms, I found the task terribly hard. How do I choose just 30? My apologies to all my beloved fandoms left off the list. I’m starting with my favorite fandom and then using random.org for the rest.

I’m doing a new format for April, but I couldn’t resist April Fool’s Day. So I thought I’d share some of my favorite fandom-related April Fool’s moments. It used to be a big tradition in the Harry Potter fandom, in honor of the twins’ birthday, so the list is heavy with Harry Potter items.
This turned out to be a fun one! It actually asked me some good questions I wasn’t expecting.
Quiz: What Supernatural Demon Are You?
Thoughts: I was really surprised by this at first. But then I remembered the question about revenge. And it’s true that I value fairness and that people should pay for bad things they do. So, actually, this works pretty well. But BUGS? How do the bugs even get 30% from me? Ugh!
Here are the other two ATCs I made during the same swap as Good Luck Bear.
The rhyme I wrote:
Jolly, and smart?
Look out for a charm
from Tenderheart!
And Grumpy’s rhyme:
Grumpy Bear
Doesn’t mean
He doesn’t care!
I had a lot of fun with these, as you have probably guessed 😉
Okay, not really a top ten… just a selection of ten favorites from my button/pin collection (which I keep in an old shortbread tin shaped like a kilt that sits on the pass-through from my kitchen to living room/dining area… which is possibly not where most people keep their collections of buttons/pins, now that I think about it). Note to self: do more top ten lists this way.
Where did the last 2 hours of my life go. *shakes fist at Pinterest*
If half the time I spend pinning things on Pinterest were spent actually making/doing the things I’m pinning, my craft room would be STUNNING.
Oh, Pinterest. You know I can’t stay mad at you…
Now, someone, go find me a door knocker that looks like Sherlock’s and I’ll be all set.
This was an interesting quiz. With so many possible choices, the number of questions and number of choices seemed pretty limited. So I was curious to see what characters were the possible results.
Quiz: What Female Marvel Character Are You?
Thoughts: Wow. Not even. Sure, I’m loyal like Jean… and I guess sometimes she seems quiet and unassuming and I like the bit about being loved & cared for… but the rest? How did it come up with that result for me? I swear I’m not going dark phoenix any time soon–yikes! Nor do I have any desire to be admired or be the most powerful anything (quite the opposite, in fact). I was secretly hoping for Sue Storm, honestly. And I was really hoping to not get Black Widow (because I am none of the things she is: brave, manipulative, clever, secretive, etc.).
There’s far too much out there for me to contain into just 10. Also, I tried to not include shows that I started and haven’t managed to finish yet (like Hex, Downton Abbey), but there are a few that snuck on there that fit the category (Fringe, True Blood).
I’ve already scheduled most of my posts for March, but I’m thinking about what to do for April. It’s my birthday month, so I’d like the change things up a little and give myself a break from the top tens and quizzes and crafts (I may or may not reschedule the license plate post I’ve got going up on April 8).
Suggestions? I thought about showcasing each of my favorite fandoms, one a day. That way I would have happy-making things appearing every day on the blog, like a daily present to myself.
In honor of St. Paddy’s Day, here’s an early craft post.
For this swap, each person posted the name of a favorite Care Bear and we had to make ATCs accordingly. Here’s the one I made of Good Luck Bear.
I made the background, carefully cut out the bear, and wrote the little rhyme myself:
Are good and kind
This bear will bring
You luck, you’ll find!
For the other two Care Bear ATCs I made, stay tuned on next Thursday for my regularly-scheduled craft post.
